I think it is normal to feel like you aren’t getting anything done on certain days.

Maybe you have kids, maybe you’re a single parent, or maybe you’re homeschooling or taking care of elderly parents…

My question is, why are some people owning the identity of an overwhelmed person who can’t get anything done, while others (with the same 24 hours in a day) are running multimillion-dollar companies?

They are sleeping eight hours a night, attending all of their kids’ activities, taking their spouse out for date night, running charities, and even having time for personal services like massages and manicures.

The good news is, I found the answer.

There is ONE simple thing you can STOP doing right now to help you get more done and that’s exactly what I am sharing with you today.

I know you don’t think it’s possible for you to have the life that you see others having…

But consider this: Maybe you’ve sold yourself the belief that you can’t live any other way.

It’s a choice.

Because you can decide, at any time, to live a life of being overwhelmed and not able to get anything done, or you can choose to live and build a life you LOVE.

I think so many of us don’t set ourselves up to be successful because of all of the technology available to us. We’re living in a self-induced, chaotic world where we’re constantly distracted.

We have things beeping and buzzing at us all the time, begging for our attention, pulling us off task, and interrupting our focus.

I’m not even talking about our kids, our employees, or our clients. I’m talking about technology.

Have you ever felt like you felt your pocket buzz and your phone’s not even in the pocket?

We’re training our bodies to look for buzzes and beeps when they’re not even there!!

I’ve come to the conclusion that what makes entrepreneurs actually successful is that they have so many ideas flooding into their brains every minute.

That’s why we’re in business, because we’re out there trying to solve them!

But we also know what can be a strength of ours is also often a weakness because that makes us easily distracted.

I’ve had to work on this myself over the years.

I get distracted by the “squirrels” that run by and get my attention.

Things like notifications for my email, text messages, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.

What made me think of this is that more than once recently, I’ve been doing interviews with some students of mine, and during the interview, all of these beeps are popping up from their computer or phone.

After a bit, I asked if they realized that they are even getting all of these notifications.

And I’ve heard all different responses from “Oh yeah, I just block them out” to “Oh, I know, but I don’t want to miss anything” to “I don’t even know how to get rid of them.”

I’ve gone through phases of my life like this where I feel like, “Oh, I need to be notified.”

And then I take a minute, and I think back to when I first started my career, we barely had email.

We didn’t have texting or any social media.

We had an answering machine at our house that we could decide if we wanted to listen to or not.

So I know that it can be done without all of those beeps and buzzes.

We’re just choosing to let them go on because we often welcome a distraction from things that we’re doing.

But at the end of the day, it distracts us from getting the things done that we need to get done.

When you have all of these interruptions it makes you not productive and it’s why projects often take us 10 times longer than they should.

Sometimes our really good ideas never see the light of day because we can’t get into deep thought or make progress on the really important things.

I want you to know this is a choice for you.

It’s one easy decision that you can make right now to stop letting the apps, the notifications, the interruptions, and all of the shiny objects take over your day and distract you from what is really important.

You are the boss of you, not technology.

You can have the identity of an overwhelmed person who doesn’t get anything done, or you can make the decision right now that you are in charge.

We all have the same number of hours in the day, so I want you to know that you can set your future self up for success and stop letting the notifications take over your day so that your photography business can be what you want it to be.

It can fit into your life without you telling yourself you have to wait until your life is in a better place.

It’s a choice, and I believe in you.
