Unlike colleges, universities, and trade schools, our mission is different: to open the world of photography business up to individuals of all ages without requiring a high school diploma or application hoops to jump through. With no grades, no tests and no classroom, your experience is one of expansive exploration, creativity and coaching.

PEAK PERFORMANCE COACHING
Annual ongoing mentorship and dedicated coaching for portrait photographers who want to tap into proven marketing campaigns with a community of like-minded business owners. With 2-3 meet ups around the U.S. each year, our members have the opportunity to strengthen their relationships with each other in-person in addition to the virtual coaching that happens all year.

We believe you shouldn’t have to choose between family or business. That your family shouldn’t have to suffer as you purse your passion as a photography business owner. You can do both well. Our members learn how to balance their growing photography business while keeping family first.
When your business is thriving, your opportunity to make an impact in your community grows exponentially. That’s why giving back is central to our values. We empower our members to lift their communities through their talents as they grow their photography businesses. As a united effort, our members have funded important causes, including over $100,000 raised for Operation Underground Railroad, $50,000 for Operation Smile and $20,000 for Village Impact. Collectively our Peak Performance Coaching members have donated over $110,000 to animal specific charities in their communities in 2023 & 2024.
By fostering social responsibility and showing how small actions can collectively make a difference, we honor our commitment to bettering lives through photography. Our members carry this spirit of service wherever their journeys lead.
In most courses and programs, you’re thrown into the deep end to figure things out on your own. But we do things differently here. At the Photography Business Institute, you will be coached by our team of seasoned photography business owners in a safe, online space for open learning and growth. Our unique framework of learning, implementation and constructive coaching and feedback in a dedicated online community is why our members experience greater success. From the mindset to the skillset needed to run a profitable photography business, the ongoing mentorship and feedback you receive will keep your momentum building so you don’t have to get a job working for someone else.

The Photography Business Institute was founded by Sarah Petty, a 25+ year veteran portrait photographer and New York Times Best Selling Author who was named one of America’s Most Profitable Photographers by Professional Photographers of America. A mom of 3 young adult children and working photographer, she built her business while putting Family First.
