We want to hear from you!
What a whirlwind last few months it has been planning the Telesummit on top of runnig a busy studio. When I brought on Erin, our Chief Joy Officer, I promised bigger things and the Telesummit is just the first of many. So as our most valued customers, we want to know…. What do you think? Are you excited about the Telesummit? What speakers do you wish we had included that aren’t on the speaker line up?

What “Brand Building” word do you own?
A recent article about brand building (in Brandweek) got me thinking about the ONE word our customers would use to describe our brand. The Brandweek article shared the results of a study by Alloy Media & Marketing of 1,500 US college students. Students were asked to name brands that evoked feelings of happiness and trust. Clinique came out on top, not surprisingly, given their straightforward product name and subsequent branding of Happy, their best-selling perfume.

The World’s Largest FREE Photography Event
A few months ago Sarah decided she wanted to give back to the photography community in a big way. It’s been a rough year for many in our industry and everyone could use a little love.

Cafe Joy members share Marketing Ideas
In July we held our first ever Marketing U education event in Dallas, Texas and it was an awesome time of sharing marketing ideas! My favorite part was the opportunity to get to know so many of the attendees a little better and dig in to their businesses. Maggie Messer, a long time Cafe Joy member attended and shared with us some creative ways she’s used her Cafe Joy mailings.

You can’t miss this!
Joyfriends, I promised when I brought on my new Chief Joy Officer that there would be big things coming. Well, we put our heads together and came up with what we think is the best way to give back to you! This year has been rough for a lot of us, so we’re excited to do some giving!

It’s going to be huge
Guys, I promised when I brought on my new Chief Joy Officer that there would be big things coming. Well, here comes the first one. It’s going to be HUGE and I can’t wait to tell you. Tune in at 11am Central on Monday to learn what it is. And be sure to block September 28 & 29 off on your calendars! Have a great weekend!

Network in your Photography Business
We are rounding the corner to the busy, busy, busy time of year. To make sure we are as busy as possible, it is important to always be networking. If you have a local networking group, JOIN. Most of the time these are fellow small business owners and a great place to start setting up co-marketing events and promotions.
RIGHT NOW – set a 2 hour chunk of time on Sept. 20 ish to listen to October’s Joy mailing. Truly, if you listen and implement the strategies, you WILL MAKE MORE MONEY THIS YEAR. Now is the time to FOCUS:-)

Marketing Blog: To Blog or Not to Blog
As small business owners and managers, we struggle every day with the demands that are put on our time. To come up with new content a few times a week for a blog seems crazy and a huge waste when we don’t even know what the return for our business will be, right? We’re just as guilty at Sarah Petty Photography, but we’re rethinking our stance now that these stats came out from Hubspot.

5 Photography Convention Tips for Maximizing your Investment
Attending industry conventions are an important part of staying fresh, meeting others and learning how to grow your skill set. It is also a powerful way to learn new small business marketing ideas. However, many people lose the knowledge they learned because they come home and fall into the same rut they were in before. Others are like kids in a candy store buying everything offered in the trade show or by the speakers as if it was their last piece of sugar. Here are 5 things you can do to maximize your convention experience as well as the investment you make.

It’s a new year with lots of new opportunities that will present themselves. And if you’re like me, you get excited about the possibilities out there for your business. One of the things we always try to remember is that as a boutique business, you only play to be the best. And that takes some calculated risks.
